Here is an extract from an email received from Fr. Vaughn.
At present the NZ Bishops are thinking that WYD11 will be organized more at Diocesan level. At present I’d hope that we would take maybe 50 from this Diocese. It would be fair to say that we wouldn’t take anyone as part of the Diocesan group who was under 18.
To be honest, the NZ Bishops aren’t reviewing WYD until November and therefore nothing more can really be said till next year.
So I think it would be best if we did not as yet pay the deposit until it was decided what was happening and what the conditions were going to be. I do not know, nor do I think we could find out, if the age would be any different if there was a parent/guardian attending as well, until next year. I know this would put more pressure on financially towards the end by reducing the amount of time for fundraising but we need to sit back at wait until the NZ Bishops review WYD Sydney. This would be disappointing for a lot of the kids if they cannot attend but it is better to get it sorted now before we go to the effort of fundraising and paying deposits etc. It is great to know there are such keen kids out there.

WYD students will abide by normal school rules and expectations whilst on the tour and whilst completing any fundraising.
The school has the right to withdraw students from the tour if academic commitment and behaviour falls below acceptable standards. Written warnings will be given.
Students on the tour are under the care of Eileen McCabe and are answerable to her only unless released for a defined period to the care of parents.
The tour will take place in August 2011 during school time. Students will be expected to catch up on missed work in their own time and will likelyI have to put in extra hours duringshifted the July school holidays as this will be year 12 and 13 for the students.
Students will be responsible for gaining a valid passport at least six months prior to departure, or ensuring an existing passport will be valid throughout the tour. Passports will be collected and carried by tour management at all times.
Final tour costs will be made available once flight, transport, meal and accommodations costs have been finalised. No guarantee on exchange rates can be given.
The tour itinerary and contact details of the group whilst on tour will be made available to all parents once they have been finalised.
Spending money is additional to the base tour cost. It is up to individual families to determine the amount their child will take on tour.
There will be an initial deposit non refundable deposit of $500.00 to be paid by 20th Nov 2008.
Students who leave school by the tour will be eligible to go.
All money must be paid to Mrs Pullar immediately by collection date.
Students should inform the co-ordinators of any fundraising they are doing, where it is and the expected payment.
Any fundraising event that involves more than one person will have the profits divided evenly amongst students present and where possible payment amount will reflect hours put in. For example when cutting firewood each student’s hours will be recorded and once all money has been collected the total will be calculated.
Parental and family involvement in fundraising is more than welcomed. Any money raised where parents and students are involved will be divided amongst all parties, and the parents share will be allocated to their child.
We reserve the right to add other unforeseen conditions that may emergeguidelines to the list.new wiki above; spcspain2011.
